DRIFT Choreographer Open Call Table of Contents The DRIFT Choreographer Open Call invites mid-career choreographers to develop new artistic research through a two-year international program supported by Creative Europe. Deadline: August 31, 2026 Official Link: https://driftdance.eu/artists/open-call Strategy Coach Notes: https://www.patreon.com/pformart/posts/drift-open-call-165569802 Get the Application Strategy DRIFT is built around artistic research rather than production. That distinction shapes every part of the application. Successful proposals demonstrate how an artist investigates ideas, develops methods, and creates conditions for future work instead of describing a finished performance they already intend to make. Reviewers will read every section of the application through that lens. Members of the Contemporary Performance Network can access the full Strategy Coach Notes for this opportunity. The guide breaks down each application question, explains what reviewers are assessing, identifies common weaknesses, and provides practical strategies for presenting a coherent research proposal. About the DRIFT Choreographer Open Call DRIFT, short for Dance & Research In The Future Time, is a four-year Creative Europe cooperation project that brings together ten cultural organizations across Europe. Led by Théâtre de Liège and Maison de la danse, the program creates long-term support structures for choreographers who have established national practices and are preparing to expand internationally. The program places research at the center of artistic development. Applicants are encouraged to arrive with questions instead of finished productions. Throughout the program, artists participate in residencies, mentoring sessions, collaborative online laboratories, and international meetings that allow ideas to evolve over time. Rather than accelerating production, DRIFT creates dedicated time for experimentation, exchange, and reflection before a project enters a larger production phase. Each participating organization selects one choreographer from its country, forming an international cohort of ten artists. Throughout the program, participants work within their local context while also engaging with artists and institutions across Europe. This combination of local support and international exchange is intended to strengthen long-term artistic relationships and expand future opportunities for collaboration. An additional phase follows the research program. After further evaluation, five of the ten selected artists may receive co-production support and touring opportunities across the DRIFT network. This second phase is separate from the current application and is not guaranteed for all participants. What Is Offered - €20,000 research budget - Artistic fees included within the research budget - Travel included within the research budget - Accommodation included within the research budget - Optional collaborator costs included within the research budget - One Onboarding Lab - Two weeks of residency with the national DRIFT partner - Three collaborative Online Labs - Individual artistic mentoring - Individual curatorial mentoring - Festival Lab in Tunis - Work-in-progress presentation during the Biennale de la danse in Lyon - International professional networking - Potential progression to co-production support and touring opportunities following a second selection process Who Should Apply DRIFT is intended for professional choreographers who have established a substantial national practice and are ready to expand their work through sustained international research. The program is designed for artists who already have experience developing and presenting work, yet have not become fully established internationally. Applicants should demonstrate a clear commitment to artistic inquiry, collaboration, and experimentation. The opportunity is especially well suited for choreographers whose next stage of development depends on time for research rather than immediate production. Artists proposing an exploratory process, testing new methodologies, or building the foundation for future work are well aligned with the program’s objectives. Applicants must: - Be a professional choreographer working in contemporary dance or performance. - Be considered a mid-career artist. - Be based in Belgium, France, Germany (Berlin region only), Greece, Norway, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Tunisia, or Portugal. - Apply through the partner organization representing their country of residence. - Have a strong interest in artistic research and experimentation. - Demonstrate good command of English. - Be available for all required program dates. DRIFT Choreographer Open Call Timeline Application Opens: July 1, 2026 Application Deadline: August 31, 2026 Selection Process: September 1 to September 30, 2026 Results Announced: October 9, 2026 Kick-Off Meeting: November 30 to December 1, 2026- Berlin, Germany Program Activities: November 2026 through September 2027 Festival Lab: March 18 to March 21, 2027 – Tunis, Tunisia Biennale de la danse Showcase: September 18 to September 25, 2027 – Lyon, France Why The DRIFT Choreographer Open Call Matters Many residency programs support artists once a production is already underway. DRIFT focuses on an earlier stage of artistic development by investing in research itself. Participants receive structured time to investigate ideas, refine methodologies, exchange knowledge with peers, and strengthen international relationships before moving into production. The program also connects artists with ten major European cultural organizations through a shared development framework. That combination of research funding, mentoring, residencies, and international presentation creates a rare opportunity for choreographers seeking long-term artistic growth rather than a single residency or commission. For artists preparing to expand their work across Europe, DRIFT offers sustained institutional support that extends well beyond the initial research period. OF THE FIELD. Apply Applications must be submitted through the official DRIFT application portal via the partner organization representing your country of residence. Virtual Art Lab 12 weeks program (All Media)

До 31 авг. 2026 г.

Belgrade Art Studio

Virtual Art Lab 12 weeks program ALL MEDIA Deadline: 31 Aug 2026 Country: Global Virtual Art Lab is an experimental online program designed to support artists in expanding their practice through new knowledge, tools, and perspectives. Over the course of 12 weeks, participants engage in a focused and flexible process that encourages experimentation, critical thinking, and the development of new work. The program is based on a one-on-one format, where each artist works individually with a dedicated artist-mentor through weekly one-hour sessions (via Zoom or Google Meet). This personalized approach allows for in-depth dialogue, tailored guidance, and a process that evolves according to each artist’s needs, interests, and pace. It is open to artists of all disciplines who find themselves at a turning point in their practice—whether feeling stuck, seeking new directions, or looking to experiment with unfamiliar media, including the possibilities of AI. Emerging from a time of global transformation, Virtual Art Lab responds to the need for evolving models of artistic support. It functions as a hybrid format—part seminar and part workshop—creating a space where artists can critically reflect on and reshape their processes. The Lab serves as a remote yet connected environment where participants can develop and realize projects for both physical and online presentation. Alongside production, the program supports curatorial thinking, writing, interviews, and documentation—essential tools for positioning work within a broader contemporary context. More than a program, Virtual Art Lab is a space for exploration, reflection, and growth—supporting artists in developing their work while building confidence, clarity, and long-term direction in their practice. The application asks applicants to explain why this specific location, community, and infrastructure matter to the work they intend to develop. Successful applications usually connect the research project to the resources available in Schöppingen while demonstrating a realistic plan for using the residency period. Members of the Contemporary Performance Network receive Strategy Coach Notes, a detailed review of the application, evaluation process, required materials, reviewer priorities, and practical guidance for developing a stronger proposal tailored specifically to this fellowship. About the Funded Germany Artist Residency Founded more than three decades ago, Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen has become one of Germany’s established international fellowship programs supporting artistic research across visual art, literature, and contemporary composition. Located in the rural Münsterland region near the Dutch border, the residency provides extended periods of uninterrupted working time while encouraging dialogue between artists from different disciplines. Rather than emphasizing production deadlines or exhibition requirements, the fellowship prioritizes sustained artistic inquiry and intellectual exchange. Residents become part of an international community that shares studios, communal spaces, and regular conversations throughout the fellowship period. While public activities such as artist talks, readings, workshops, and presentations are welcomed, participation remains voluntary. This structure allows fellows to dedicate most of their time to developing ideas, testing methods, conducting research, and refining projects at a pace that reflects their own practice rather than institutional production schedules. What Is Offered - Monthly fellowship of €1,500 for individual fellows, minus approximately €100 to €200 for rent and operating expenses. - Collective fellowships of €1,000 per person per month, up to a maximum of €3,000, minus rent and operating expenses. - Private apartment and working space within Künstlerdorf Schöppingen. - Access to studios, exhibition spaces, gallery, library, theatre, workshops, and communal facilities. - Opportunity to work alongside an international community of artists, writers, and composers. - Residential fellowship lasting between two and six months. - Accommodation options for partners and family members, subject to availability. - Exceptional support for travel, insurance, or material costs when approved by the foundation. - Freedom to focus on research and artistic development without a production or presentation requirement. Who Should Apply This fellowship is well suited to established artists who benefit from sustained periods of research rather than production-driven residencies. The program welcomes visual artists, writers, composers, and artistic collectives whose practices can develop through concentrated time, interdisciplinary conversation, and independent investigation. Applicants should be able to explain why Schöppingen provides the right environment for their project and how the residency’s facilities, community, and rural setting contribute directly to their research. Strong proposals demonstrate a clear relationship between the project and the residency rather than presenting work that could be developed anywhere. Funded Germany Artist Residency Timeline - Applications Open: June 27, 2026 - Application Deadline: August 31, 2026, Midnight CET - Residency Period: Two to six months during 2027, with dates arranged in consultation with the foundation. Why The Funded Germany Artist Residency Matters Many international residency programs expect artists to produce exhibitions, performances, or public outcomes before the residency concludes. Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen takes a different approach by supporting the research phase of artistic practice. Fellows receive financial support, housing, professional facilities, and extended uninterrupted working time without a formal production requirement. This creates space for experimentation, long-term investigation, and interdisciplinary exchange that can influence future projects well beyond the residency itself. For artists whose work develops through sustained inquiry, this fellowship offers valuable time, resources, and an established international network. Established and emerging artists (ages 14 and above) are invited to submit images of completed work for consideration. Emerging artists are defined as those who create art as a hobby or are still developing their skills, with little or no public recognition, exhibitions, or sales. Established artists are defined as professionals who have formal training in the arts and an established presence through exhibiting in museums or galleries, and whose main economic activity is making art. A Best in Show prize of $1,000 will be awarded to a single piece. Ribbons will be awarded to the winner in each media category for an emerging artist and an established artist. This juried exhibition will be held at The Center for the Arts & Sciences and hosted by Brazosport Fine Arts Council. The exhibit will run from October 6 - November 2, 2026. Brazosport Fine Arts Council, Lake Jackson Historical Association, Freeport Historical Museum, Freeport Main Street, Brazoria County Historical Museum, Brazoria County Library System, Brazosport LULAC, and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Brazoria County are collaborating this fall to honor Hispanic & Latino culture with a monthlong, county-wide celebration of Dia de los Muertos throughout October and early November 2026. A reception and awards presentation for artists accepted into the exhibition and their guests will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026 from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. ADMISSION FEE Submission is open to the public. The entry fee is $15 per submission, up to 3 submissions. Additional, incomplete or late submissions will not be accepted. Note: ArtCall uses the term "Application" to refer to a submission. You may submit up to 3 "Applications" (submissions) for your $45 fee. SUBMISSIONS All genres and styles that fit the theme of the exhibition will be accepted, both 2D and 3D. Eligible media includes, but is not limited to, paintings, oil, chalk, pastels, ink, drawings, photography, mixed media, ceramics, sculptures, metal work, wood work and fiber art. All submitted works must be the original creation of the artist. Artwork generated wholly or partially by artificial intelligence (AI) will not be accepted and the curator's decision is final and cannot be appealed. If a work is selected and some AI use is detected, the artist will be asked to provide a portfolio to show a consistent, recognizable body of work and the progress of the submitted art. All pieces must not have been previously submitted in our 2025, 2024, or 2023 Los Vivos y Los Muertos exhibitions. Please submit images for up to 3 artworks for consideration by August 31, 2026. Please include the year of completion, size, media type, art statement, and 50–80-word summary describing the inspiration and meaning of the piece. The show will be curated by visual art professionals. Submission does not guarantee acceptance, and the submission fee is non-refundable. Due to the public, family-friendly nature of the exhibition space, art including nudity or highly controversial images or subject matter will not be selected. All pieces must be of the PG rating. Your Writing & Research Residency in Argentina

До 31 авг. 2026 г.

Residencia Corazón

Your Writing & Research Residency in Argentina Deadline: 31 Aug 2026 Country: Argentina Residencia Corazón is a writing and artist residency located in La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina — a vibrant university city one hour from Buenos Aires by train, home to UNLP, one of the largest public universities in Latin America. Since 2006, we have hosted writers, curators, researchers and visual artists from more than 30 countries. Our Writing Journey program is designed for writers who need time and a different context to work. What that means in practice varies: some writers come to disappear into a project for weeks with minimal contact with anyone. Others find that sharing a house with visual artists, photographers and researchers from different parts of the world opens something unexpected in their work. Both are fine. We do not impose a way of working — we try to understand what each writer needs and make that possible. We welcome novelists, poets, essayists, playwrights, screenwriters, literary translators, researchers and interdisciplinary practitioners. We particularly welcome literary translators working on Argentine or Latin American literature into any language — La Plata offers direct access to the literary community, academic institutions and archives that support that work. We are not a workshop or a conference. There are no faculty, panels or scheduled critiques. Juan Pablo and Rodrigo — the directors — are available throughout the stay: to talk about the project, to connect the writer with someone useful in the city, or simply to handle the practical aspects of daily life in La Plata. Writers who prefer to work in complete independence will find that respected. Writers who want more contact, more connection to the local scene, more dialogue about what they are making — that is available too. Duration of residency Mínimo 15 días.
