DRAW – Autumn residency (September/October). Deadline: 27 Aug 2026 Country: France To cultivate a reflective, experimental, and interdisciplinary culture of drawing — as both a philosophical and material practice — connecting local contexts with global dialogues. To provide a self-sustaining environment that supports practice-led research, collaboration, and experimentation, fostering a culture of openness and exchange. Participants are invited to engage in process-based research, exchange critical perspectives, and create works that test the boundaries between artistic practice and theoretical reflection. Duration of residency Residencies are offered for a minimum of one month and up to three months. Accommodation The centre for drawing research is situated in the heart of Caylus, a small medieval village in SW France, a rural community with a growing number of artists and craftspeople. Artists have shared self catering accommodation with private bedrooms. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance We work with architects, designers, writers and professionals in the applied and fine arts. These artists come from many different countries and bring with them many diverse experiences, but all have something in common, a humanity and a passion for drawing. We are interested in creative people who would appreciate the opportunity for sustained concentration in a supportive professional studio environment, in order to develop their artistic practice by engaging in, new perspectives, experiences and challenges.Studio / Workspace Artists are allocated individual studio spaces to suit particular project requirements, with unlimited access. For someone who would like to try out living in the Nordics, or maybe is even thinking about moving to Finland permanently. In Hub Feenix you could try it out. Not alone, but as a part of a supportive creative community. Hub Feenix Housed in a beautifully restored historic sanatorium, Hub Feenix blends old-world charm with modern amenities across a sprawling 15,000m² campus. We are a creative village where creativity and community life come together. From Canvas to Wall: An International 2 weeks Mural Masterclass (All levels) Deadline: 30 Aug 2026 Country: Portugal Join StartArt Residency in Northern Portugal for a practical mural masterclass led by Ale Poiré, a Mexican painter with more than a decade of experience creating public art across Mexico, Latin America, and Europe. Ale’s work explores gender, identity, collective memory, and the social meaning of public space. Her practice is grounded in the belief that a mural begins long before the first brushstroke. Through a methodology that combines observation, listening, visual research, and painting, participants will learn to develop mural projects that are not only visually compelling, but also deeply connected to the places and communities they engage with. Throughout the program, participants will develop a creative process that can be applied to future mural projects in any context. They will explore how to observe with intention, transform ideas into visual narratives, build strong mural concepts, create sketches, choose colours, transfer a design, and execute a large-scale artwork with confidence and purpose. Surrounded by forests and the Homem River, the residency offers a unique environment to slow down and sharpen observation. Guided walks, perception exercises, and a personal visual journal will encourage participants to develop a more attentive way of looking—one that can later be carried into any community, landscape, or public space where they choose to create. Languages, Please is an invitation to a collective series of rehearsals that explores languages as geopolitical spaces of dispute, narratives, and encounters. It is a call to engage with the porosity of our bodies in action and the narratives that can infuse and strengthen our practice of remaining polyphonic, amid the crumbling circumstances of the present. To meet in a language embraces the paradox of feeling foreign but inside the language, consciously rejecting to be bound by borders and rules that the language itself may impose. The fragility and fleeting temporality of this process embody the very essence of the community as a political space: a plurality of possibilities forged by the acceptance of implicit differences and affective responses that sharing a language fosters in each of us. What is incomprehensible yet invisible—uncoded, unseen and unheard—is just as vital as what is comprehensible and visible. Moving beyond the individual existence as an isolated experience, our human and more-than-human bodies are constantly engaged in negotiating ecological relationships to defend our right to remain plural, precarious and complex. This is a call to delve into what it could mean to engage with sustainable acts of storytelling, reception, and the reclamation of spaces of coexistence—an ongoing, heterogeneous multiplicity of stories so far, in which collective imaginaries emerge from the reorganisation of the senses, rewriting and acting for justice, rather than from resonance or empathy. It is about breaking the habit of synthesis, shifting our attention from the stories that worlds tell us to the intricate micro-processes that compose these stories—memories, muscles, and multiple interwoven connections occurring at once. The workshop begins from the ruins of this broken language and from the need to learn it anew. It explores how listening, poetry and shared words might help us imagine an im/possible tomorrow. Module X Returning to the Body: Sensory (Un)Knowing and the Politics of Perception led by Sara Mikolai with guest Jee-Ae Lim. 23 – 27 November 2026 This module explores perception and embodiment through practices of attention, listening, movement and voice. It considers the body as a primary medium of perception, shaped by social, historical and political conditions, while introducing South Asian aesthetic philosophies such as Rasa. Participants are invited to reflect on affect, language, displacement and embodied knowledge as tools for expanding artistic and relational practices. Accommodation Participants will be accommodated within the premises of Cittadellarte, in single rooms equipped with bedding and towels, and with the use of shared bathrooms. Bogotá August 2026 Deadline: 31 Aug 2026 Country: Colombia R.A.R.O. is an international residency program that proposes an alternative model based on a wide network of studios and cultural spaces, rather than a single workspace. Through this collaborative structure, over 28 local artists’ studios, art departments from public and private universities, and other interdependent cultural projects welcome residents and support their creative processes across the program’s various formats. Founded in Buenos Aires in 2014, R.A.R.O. has hosted more than 450 artists from all over the world. Since 2024, the program has also operated in Bogotá (Colombia), where it has received over 100 artists, curators, and researchers. We recognise the need for artists to recharge, share ideas, be inspired and to find a place to breathe. We run 3 week long residencies for a maximum of nine artists with this idea in mind. The residency is not project based or requiring specific engagement or outcome but it is a place to find peace and new ideas. Artists from all disciplines are welcome to apply. As we are so remote we cannot offer internet access on a daily basis, but a walk up to “internet hill” or a trip into town is possible to catch up on emails. A Residency at Cafe Tissardmine is also an opportunity to discover the richness of the Amazigh culture, their way of life, cooking and crafts. The cost of the residency covers full board, accommodation and some transportation. Duration of residency In 2026/7 we offer stays of three weeks. You must also factor in that it can take up to two days to get to us so you need to factor in travel time. Accommodation SINGLE ACCOMMODATION. We have four adobe bedrooms around a central courtyard. All have en-suite bathrooms. We have recently upgraded our other accommodation, what used to be the camp is now five detached adobe cabins built around a central garden. All have private bathrooms. We like to have some kind of end of residency event for artsits to show their works in progress, however and whatever is applicable. This is not obilgatory, in the past some artists have set puzzles or games or cooked a meal as their contribution to the event. Application information To apply send us your CV, short biography, examples of your work and most importantly a statement no longer than one A4 page about why you want to come to Cafe Tissardmine, what your expectations are and what you hope to achieve from your time here. Selection by the director is primarily based not on your art but the reasons you wish to come here and your understanding of the place you are coming to. Priority is given to those artists who commit to the full three weeks. We try to be prompt with replying – and sometimes more dialogue is required before we can accept your application.
