Spring Retreat 2027 – ARiR Guiniguada, Gran Canaria Deadline: 29 Nov 2026 Country: Spain Artist and Researcher in Residence programme, runs since 2019 in the Guiniguada valley of Gran Canaria, in the northern foothills, a long inhabited fertile area, not the touristic south. Separate studios, several terraces, shared kitchen and bathrooms. The house is our home, where we welcome you, we are present during the programme and support your projects. We are on an experimental life project trying to be less a consumer and work together with nature to a desired extent. Natural setting of the warm-loving forest zone, also ongoing agricultural activity. Rural as being part of a village, but very close to the capital city of Las Palmas or the town of Santa Brígida, thus well connected also via roads and public transport. Duration of residency Preferably 4 weeks (whole period). Minimum stay 2 weeks. Accommodation The house is an ‘organic’ type – this means by local standards it had been used first as a series of caves, since unkown times, and the previous owners enlarged it step by step in the directions where the rocky hillside has permitted. The residency area starts above our apartment; consisting of five rooms. Each room is separate, they do not open from each other. A shared kitchen and various terraces are at your disposal, and there are two shared bathrooms. Gullö Gård Artist Residency – a residency by Skogshyddan AIR Deadline: 30 Nov 2026 Country: Finland The residency programme at Slöjdstugan, Gullö Gård, offers visual artists and writers an opportunity to focus on their creative practice in the peaceful surroundings of a historic manor estate in the Finnish archipelago near Tammisaari (Ekenäs), Finland. Gullö Gård Artist Residency operates under the international artist and researcher residency programme Skogshyddan AIR. Skogshyddan AIR is responsible for the artistic curation, coordination, artist selection, application process and the planning of the spring exhibition. Gullö Gård provides the physical setting for the residency, including accommodation at Slöjdstugan. Through this collaboration, Skogshyddan AIR expands its international residency activities to additional locations and inspiring working environments in the Raasepori region. A distinctive feature of the programme is the presentation of selected works created during the winter and spring residency periods in a curated group exhibition at Gullö Gård in May. The exhibition will take place in the manor’s main hall and café, coinciding with the blooming of the manor’s famous daffodil woodland, when the estate opens its doors to visitors. Hakoniemi residency is a peaceful and inspiring working environment, located and inspired by the beautiful lake-side nature of Northern Saimaa archipelago. We would like to offer a residency place for sustainable work plans of different kinds, and an interest to the natural environment. The residence is suitable for artists, musicians, writers, artisans, designers, researchers and architects among others. We also run the Hako x Helsinki Residency in the capital. You may apply for a combined residency at both locations or choose just one. For 16 years, the farm of Hakoniemi in Oravisalo was inhabited by painter Jorma Pajarinen. His studio and a barn gallery were located in the yard of the Hakoniemi farm. Hakoniemi with its surroundings is an ideal destination for artistic work. In addition to the lake-side nature, the proximity of the Russian border and the history of the region are strongly present. The nearby Salpapolku offers a chance to get to know Finnish military history and the diverse nature of the Northern Saimaa archipelago. With the recovery of the endangered Saimaa ringed seal (Pusa hispida saimensis), there is a real possibility to spot one these chubby swimmers sun bathing on the cliffs. For the founders of Hakoniemi Residence Support Association, it is important to revive the culture, music, design and diverse art of Rääkkylä. Through the residence, the support association and artists are able to work in co-operation with the local community and companies. We want residency artists to experience the same inspiring environment of the Saimaa archipelago that has been provided to us for decades. The lakes, nature, animals, people and everyday life on the inland islands of the Northern Saimaa are the source of inspiration for artistic and creative work. Please note that there is no permanent staff living in the Hakoniemi house, so the residency is best suited for guests who are used to work and reside in self-directed environments. The location is remote, situated 15km away from the village center with no public transportation. To make longer residencies and advance planning more accessible, SomoS offers several modest fee reductions: • Extended Stay — 5%: for residencies of four months or longer, a 5% reduction applies to the monthly residency fee for the entire agreed residency period. Residents may continue to pay the fee according to the regular monthly payment schedule; advance payment of the full residency period is not required. • Early Bird — 5%: when the residency agreement is concluded and the reservation payment is received at least six months before the starting date. • Full Fee Payment — 5%: for a standard three-month residency when the complete residency fee is paid in one payment within 14 days of acceptance. Discounts cannot be combined. If more than one reduction applies, the participant may choose the option that best suits them. Expectations towards the artist Residents are generally expected to participate in approximately 80% of the residency program, unless otherwise agreed. The program forms an important part of the SomoS experience and includes artist introductions, studio visits, discussions, institutional visits, and opportunities to encounter Berlin’s wider artistic community. SomoS is particularly well suited to self-directed practitioners with a developed artistic or research trajectory who value concentrated working time alongside substantive exchange with artists from different disciplines, generations, and cultural backgrounds. Participants range from emerging artists with a clearly defined direction to mid-career and established practitioners undertaking a period of focused development, experimentation, research, or reflection. The intergenerational character of the program is an important part of SomoS: residents bring different levels of experience, professional backgrounds, and perspectives into the shared environment. Depending on the nature of their project, participants may also work toward a form of public engagement, such as an artist talk, workshop, reading, presentation, publication, or other suitable format. This is not a requirement for every residency. Participants on sabbatical, conducting research, writing, or undertaking projects that require sustained concentration may instead choose to focus on their work while benefiting from SomoS’s artistic environment and organizational and curatorial support. An artist-run residency for creation, community and exchange – Welcome to Escola Normal! Deadline: 30 Nov 2026 Country: Portugal Set within a historic home in Porto, Portugal, it is a place where people live together, make things together and occasionally reinvent their lives over coffee in the kitchen. We welcome artists from all disciplines and at all stages of their practice: musicians, dancers, writers, photographers, filmmakers, visual artists, performers, textile practitioners and those whose work resists definition. Some arrive with a clear project in mind; others arrive with unfinished ideas, creative blocks or the desire to experiment without the pressure of immediate results. Life at Escola Normal unfolds through shared meals, late-night conversations, rehearsals, walks to concerts, spontaneous collaborations and time spent alone with one’s work. Residents have access to music, photography, visual arts and sewing studios, as well as presentation spaces and the cultural programme of the house. There are no mandatory outcomes. We do not believe every residency should end with a polished product. Textile Center

Residencies for textile artists and scholars in Iceland – open call Deadline: 30 Nov 2026 Country: Iceland Ós residency at the Textile Center in Blönduós, Iceland, seeks to promote an atmosphere of creativity, experimentation and reflection for artists and scholars working inside the textile field. We accept submissions from emerging, mid-career, and senior level artists and scholars all year round (open call). The residency is situated in a historic building and former Women’s College in Blönduós, northwest Iceland. The residency can accommodate 8-14 artists every month. Each resident is provided with his/her own bedroom equipped with a small desk and scenic view, access to studio facilities and open plan work space in the communal studio. Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. We also offer a Tc2 residency and private accommodation for groups (4 max.) or individual artists in two houses next door. Since 2021, artists in residence also have access to the Textile Center’s TextileLab (not included in the residency fee!). Depending on availability (sign up on site), artists can work with equipment including a Tc2 sample loom, felt loom, tufting guns, digital knitting machine, digital sewing machine, laser cutter and printer. Artists in residence also have access to the Textile Museum in Blönduós. In walking distance, there is a great gym and heated outdoor pool. Since it first opened in 2013, the residency has hosted many textile artists and scholars from all around the world. Since 2017, residents are featured in our annual Ós Residency Catalog. The Textile Center does not offer or facilitate exhibitions on a regular basis, but artists in residence are welcome to initiate open houses, group or solo exhibitions. The new residency is located in a charming design apartment in the very heart of Helsinki Design District – a vibrant area where Finnish design, art, and urban culture meet in a unique way. The inspiring atmosphere familiar from the original Hakoniemi Residency in North Karelia can now also be experienced in an urban setting. Guests are welcome to combine their stays at both residencies – from the buzz of the city to the peace of nature or vice versa. Duration of residency 1 week – 5 months Accommodation The 24 m² studio offers a comfortable and fully furnished space. The apartment is a compact studio designed to accommodate two guests and contains a sofa bed which serves as an additional sleeping option for up to two additional persons if needed. A small workspace is located beneath the loft bed, equipped with a desk and a drawer unit. The apartment also includes a selection of books on Finnish design and architecture.
