KuBa Residency – Season 2027 Deadline: 15 Jan 2027 Country: Germany KuBa: kulturbahnhof, Klein Warnow – A place of motion and emotion a particular program for inspiration, dialogue & cooperation, open to the challenges of our time. KuBa: kulturbahnhof is located on the site of a former train station in the village of Klein Warnow (Brandenburg), on the Berlin-Hamburg railway. The residency program offers artists, writers and cultural scientists a place to work, create and experiment. The interaction with this unique location is an essential element of the project. The artistic directors of KuBa: kulturbahnhof are Sharon Horodi and Mika Maria Kammerer. The two are artists, active in the field of painting, printing, video, photography, performance-art and creative writing. Both have many years of experience in curating exhibitions and artistic events, community based art projects and trans-cultural exchange programs. A train station is a place of transition. It holds stories of arrival and departure, of anticipation, memory, joy, and longing. Like art itself, it exists between the intimate and the collective, connecting people, places, and ideas. Our vision is to create a residency that nurtures focused individual practice while encouraging meaningful encounters—with fellow residents, the local environment, and the cultural heritage of the site. Duration of residency The duration of the residency is 4 weeks. Two residency-units are available for each period. Individuals or artist couples/duos may apply. The residency begins with a one-day methodical training which focuses on self-management and on the specification of personal goals that the participants wish to achieve during their stay. A one-time coaching session can be arranged if required. Project presentations are offered at the end of the stay. Accommodation Each resident is provided with a private apartment of approximately 50 m², thoughtfully designed to combine living and working in one comfortable space. Every apartment includes a bedroom, a separate workspace, a private bathroom, and a fully equipped kitchen, allowing artists to settle into a focused daily rhythm. Guests also have access to Wi-Fi, a shared washing machine, and everything needed for an extended stay. A large wood-burning stove heats each apartment, filling the space with warmth and creating a cozy, welcoming atmosphere throughout the colder months. Beyond the apartments, residents have access to a shared studio, a fully equipped workshop, and an expansive outdoor area with a thriving permaculture garden—spaces for making, gathering, and reconnecting with nature. The entire station complex is protected as a listed cultural heritage site. Residents are encouraged to engage creatively with the location and its history, and temporary interventions or modifications are welcome, provided the historical fabric of the site is respected and preserved. Length of stay is 1-3 months (Dec 2026 and/or Jan, Feb 2027). Submissions to our self-funded program are open to artists, musicians, performers, writers, and researchers of all backgrounds to focus on their work in a remote landscape with opportunities for artistic and cultural exchange. Winter in North Iceland is defined by auroras, swimming pools, snow, long sunsets, and fading daylight. We usually have 8 to 12 artists a month in private bedrooms sharing common areas in a three-story house. Summer 2027 Residency – EARLY ACCEPTANCE Deadline: 15 Jan 2027 Country: Greece The Mudhouse is an artist residency located in the village of Agios Ioannis on the Island of Crete, Greece. The Mudhouse Residency aims to provide artists inspiration derived from an engagement with the stunning natural beauty of its environment, solitude to foster creative growth, an artistic community to enrich professional practices, and an immersive cultural experience within a profoundly rich historical context. Started in 2015, the Mudhouse offers its two-week residency sessions each summer for international contemporary artists working across a manifold of artistic disciplines, from paint, to ceramics, to experimental film. We welcome visual artists, writers, musicians and performers. Hosting an incredibly diverse, multicultural, multi-generational cohort of artists in each residency session, the Mudhouse encourages dialogues across traditional boundaries. Artists are invited to present a slideshow, lecture or reading on their work for fellow residents, as well as participate in a closing exhibition at the Residency’s conclusion that will be installed jointly in the ruins around the village and the exhibition space. The Mudhouse Residency provides accommodations, studio space, and two meals each day for the two week duration of the residency, in the village of Agios Ioannis, on the Greek island of Crete. Each residency session features a guided tour of a Minoan archaeological site. As an artist founded and operated residency, the Mudhouse’s ethos continues to be to provide an increasingly diverse group of artists an affordable, international residency experience. The Mudhouse is proud to offer both Full and Partial Fellowships based on the merit of the applicants work to aid in the cost of attending the residency. Duration of residency 2 weeks Accommodation The accommodations for each artist include a private bedroom and either a private bathroom or a bathroom shared with no more than one other artist. Each apartment also has a shared kitchen. All of the accommodations in the village are unique, as they are the guest homes of the village’s residents. Room assignments are at the discretion of the directors, with attention paid to the artist’s discipline. The Mudhouse also offers the use of the use of the grand piano/ private concert hall to musicians/ composers in residence. Writers are housed in accommodations with access to a writing/work space.Fees and support The application allows the artist to choose from two residency fee tiers. The residency fee includes accommodations, studio space and two meals each day for the two week duration of the residency. Studio H Canada welcomes artists from Canada and around the world for four-week residencies on Canada’s Pacific west coast. We are in rural Metchosin, British Columbia, on the unceded territory of the SC’IȺNEW Nation. Gardens and forest surround the studio, in a seaside community of farms, lakes and mountains. We have put years of care and investment into a place where artists can feel at home and give their work the time and attention it deserves. You may be working with textiles or fibre, following a research question, writing, exploring sound, or bringing several disciplines together.
