Artist residency opportunity in rural Portugal – Atlas Residency 2026/2027 Deadline: 26 Oct 2026 Country: Portugal Atlas is an artistic lab exploring the interactions inbetween nature and creativity, it is an independent studio running a studio residency. Atlas residency is an opportunity for international artists to experience the countryside within close reach to Lisbon. This new residency space emerges from the already established Euroatlas studio residency based in Lisbon, from a need to reconnect with ways of living and creating that are in touch with the environment. The space is located in the village Carvalhal of the Bombarral Municipality, next to the vibrant and historical town of Caldas da Rainha. The Atlas residency is an independent artist space, with an independent focused program opened for emerging and established artists that are looking for a place of reflection away from their usual environment and that are self-sufficient in their research. Duration of residency The residency stay for artists or groups is between one and three months. Accommodation The studio of the residency is composed of a warehouse of 200m2 with a working and living studio, own kitchen and bathroom, and a permaculture garden, designed to have fruits and medicinal plants all year round. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance It is a non-prescriptive residency program with aim of facilitating the exchange of experiences and knowledge among artists besides their individual research and production projects. While in residence, the artists will benefit from production time enhanced by the exchange of ideas and experiences with peers. The residency provides accommodation and living space. The residency is open for application from groups working together or single artists and the program can be multidisciplinary in the areas of visual arts, dance, theater, writing and music.Fees and support The fee per month is 1800 eur per month (solo stay at the residency) and for collectives is 1300 eur (shared stay at the residency, more than one artist at the same time, sharing studio and house). Additional cost for partners is 600 €, and children under 12 years old a fee of 300€ extra per person. Atlas does not cover accommodation or travel expenses. The artist has to find their own sponsor in their country to cover the expenses. Additional costs might apply. Expectations towards the artist For self-sustainable mature artists that are producing work based on process and research from all creative fields. In case the residency is occupied by two different artists at the same time the monthly fee per person would differ. It’s an opportunity to immerse on your work in the countryside, free from cities’ noise and chaos. There are opportunities to give a talk or organize a workshop with the students at the art academy ESAD, in Caldas da Rainha, optional. You tell us what you hope to achieve during your stay with us, how many pieces you want to make. Tell us your goals, your dreams and what inspires you. We are non prescriptive and tailor the residency around your aspirations. John’s brilliance lies in his mastery of material engineering. Through his mentorship, residents are guided to develop their own distinctive ceramic technologies and discover pathways to scale their production. His philosophy – “embracing the noble catastrophe” -is fertile ground for bold artworks that forage new frontiers. Duration of residency Our recommended residency is 2 month, 3 if you can, but we can work within a 1 month period if that is the maximum time you have. We just need to scale your expectations to the time allocated and the first 2 weeks would be super intense. Accommodation The artist would stay in one of our rooms at our guest house. Each room is private and has its own bathroom, kitchen, lounge, patio, garden and dining are all communual. The guest house is centraly situated in the Southern Suburbs in Cape Town and is close to public transport routes. We are within walking distance of shops and restuarants. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance This is specifically a ceramic residency so all clay artists. We have 3 studio spaces that John works from as a prolific artists. All three of these spaces are available. John does mostly handwork and we do have wheel that is used by residency artists and mould making. There are also three kilns. John is availble almost daily to give assistance and guidance.Studio / Workspace The guest house studio is a lovely tranquil studio that has a loarg glass table that we work at. It would be shared with the other art residents, it has an outside roofed annex with a wheel and shelving, John's two other studio are busy creative spaces where you might be working alone or with other artists. This is a lively practising studio with work always on the go.Fees and support The Winter Residency is R8 000 a week and includes Your first bag of clay A serviced, private room with en-suite at the John Bauer Guest House, which offers self-catering facilities. El Molino is a place that believes in the power of long conversations and the synergies that arise from them. Each artist has their own private bedroom and shares a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and washroom with the other artists. Internet access, a washing machine, bed linen, and a towel are provided. Disciplines, work equipment and assistance The Residency is multi-disciplinary and open to most creative directions. The Centre is equipped with wood and metal workshops, a ceramic workshop, a printmaking workshop, a kitchen, a recording studio, and a Concert hall. Our staff is at work from 9:00 16:00 on weekdays, while residency artists have 24/7 access to the building. The staff of the Centre assists residency artists with sourcing materials and other things that they might need during their stay. Application for the First Half of 2026 Deadline: 31 Oct 2026 Country: Japan Artist-in-residence SAIKONEON was established in April 2019, aiming to provide a space for research, creation and exchange of knowledge for various artists and designers of various boundaries. SAIKONEON is located about two hours away from Tokyo under the magnificent natural environment of Mount Fuji, with a facility on the shores of Lake Saiko in Yamanashi Prefecture. In addition, the Políglota Room is a perfect space for performance art, audio-visual installations, lectures, video projections, etc. Residents can also work in The Tower: a silent and luminous studio located on the second floor with an open view, accessible by a spiral staircase. It is ideal to do research, study, write and create in an independent atmosphere. Other studios can be set up according to the project proposal and each resident’s needs. There are also many tools available and a lab for photosensitive print media techniques, as well as video and sound equipments already installed for video projections or audio-visual explorations. Selected art will be exhibited at the Mountain Artists Guild Gallery (located at 228 N. Alarcon Street, Prescott), November 23rd through December 30th, 2026. Theme: Fiber Arts We are looking for pieces that show the richness, complexity, beauty, color, pattern and texture of Fiber Art. One color, or multiple colors, simple or complex patterns, wall art or sculptural pieces. - Eligibility:- This Exhibition is open to Mountain Artists Guild Members and Non-Members. - Textile art only, including wearable art, 2D, and 3D. - Art can be for sale (encouraged) or Not For Sale. - Maximum size 36” per side - No full-size quilts. - Show Dates: November 23rd through December 30th, 2026. - Gallery Intake is on November 23rd, pick up is on December 30th. No Shipping permitted. - Entry Fee: $15 for up to three submissions. - The Mountain Artists Guild will retain 25% of the purchased price as a commission fee for Mountain Artists Guild Members - The Mountain Artists Guild will retain 40% of the purchased price as a commission fee for non-Mountain Artists Guild Members- To become a Mountain Artists Guild Member, click here [add website URL here] - Hanging Requirements: - Hanging Sleeve (Rod Pocket) is preferred - Other non-wall-damaging (other than a nail) methods are acceptable; however, the artists must provide the hardware to hang the piece if anything other than a nail is required to hang it - No saw tooth hangers - Submission Instructions: - Art Call Instructions below - Submitters will be notified no later than November 16, 2026, of their acceptance into the show Online Application Deadline: Start anytime and up until 9PM on NOVEMBER 11, 2026 Show Dates: November 25 through December 30, 2026 Gallery intake: November 23, 2026 Artwork must be delivered in person between 1 am and 12 pm, Monday, November 23, 2026 - no shipping permitted. For Members only, if you cannot deliver in person at intake, please make arrangements with our Gallery Manager. Entry Fees - up to 3 submissions per artist - Pay by credit card only $15.00 for up to 3 submissions All submissions will be juried and either accepted or not accepted for the Gallery Show, with final judging. Participation Rules - Artists Agree to Abide by our Gallery Standards 1. Submissions must be entered online using the ArtCall.org website. 2. Artwork, in whole or in part, must be created solely by the artist. 3. Artwork, in whole or in part, must not infringe on any copyright. 4. Paintings or photographs of nudes or work inappropriate for family viewing will not be accepted.  5. Price your work to reflect the Guild's commission: Members- 25%; Non-members - 40% - All Artwork must be for sale. 7. Maximum size 36” per side. No full-size quilts. 9. Once the awards have been announced, accepted entries will be on display in the Web Gallery for 3 months. Artists who enter this show are responsible for handling (packaging) and shipping of items sold online. Artists in the Web Gallery show must inform the Guild if they sell their work so that the Web Gallery is kept up-to-date. Submission Instructions  1. Images of artwork should have no background/frame visible; artwork under glass should show no reflections, and be in the appropriate orientation. 2. Images must represent the work accurately.    3. You may submit more than one image of paintings, photographs, 3-dimensional objects and jewelry to show different sides of the item or close-up detail. DO NOT SUBMIT different artwork in individual entries only photos for one piece. 4. If photographing 3-dimensional objects or jewelry, place them on either a white or black non-textured background.                                                                               5. Images should be in JPG, PNG, or PDF file format. 6. The maximum file size for uploading is 4MB. If your image file size is greater than this, use a photo or image editing program to reduce the size of the image before uploading. 7. Mountain Artists Guild reserves the right to reject artwork that is not photographed correctly and reflects poorly on the artist and the Guild.   Register Online at ArtCall.org - Need Help - see our Art Call Step-by-Step instructions 1. If you do not have an account on ArtCall.org, register and apply online:  Ignore the request to create a portfolio website if that message appears. Simply click on the ‘x’ in the top right of that screen to close it or click on ‘No thanks’. 2. If you already have an account, sign in with your username and password. If you forgot your password, request a new one. 3. Provide the details requested to set up an account.  4. Click on ‘Add new submission’ to pay by credit card. Decide on how many submissions you will enter before you pay. NOTE: No refunds will be made if you pay for more submissions than you use. 5. NOTE: If you want to add additional submissions after you paid for a specific number: - Enter your account again and click on ‘Add new submission’. - Make sure you select how many new submissions you want to pay for in the ‘Pay for how many’ box. - Click on Member or Non-member.
